Last week, SEGA unveiled the first batch of Minecraft. There are some other supposed leaks still doing the rounds as well.
Now, the official Sonic social media has sent Sonic fans into a frenzy once again, with a new piece of artwork apparently featuring a very familiar-looking symbol. The focus here is on what looks exactly like the Triforce from the Legend of Zelda series.

Before anyone gets excited here, no – it's probably not what you might be thinking. Some Sonic fans are convinced the character Espio (who is a ninja) and the symbol are linked, and this is more likely to be a reference to Japan's Hōjō clan. Others acknowledge how similar patterns have featured in the past.
Fantactx: "It's not a teaser for Link to be in the game, it's a symbol used by the Hōjō clan back in 13th century Japan who were allies with a ninja clan which is why it's near Espio as he himself, is a ninja. A example of this being used for inspiration would be the Triforce."
NoahAFS: "No everyone, that's not the Triforce next to Espio, that's the symbol of the Hōjō clan, a Japanese samurai family. This does not mean Link is coming to CrossWorlds."
Shaddy_the_guy: "This is just a pattern that can exist, y'know. It's all over the walls in Palmtree Panic"
Case closed then, or is it? Stranger crossovers have happened and the Sega and Nintendo maintain a great relationship nowadays.
So, while we're not completely ruling anything out here (at least for now), we wouldn't suggest you get your hopes up. In some other Sonic Racing news, Sega has confirmed there'll be a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, along with a paid upgrade.
What do you think? Would you like to see any guests from certain Nintendo franchises feature in Sonic? How about Link or Sonic in something like Mario Kart World? Let us know in the comments.

1. Yeah, it's probably nothing.
2. Come on, though! It may be a historical symbol, and were it to pop up in some other form of media like a movie maybe I'd buy it, but in the realm of gaming three triangles in that configuration really only means one thing, and it has nothing to do with 13th century ninjas.
Link for Sonic Racing Crossworlds confirmed!
Also a weird crocodile with gold rings and a pink bunny with a hammer...2hat could them mean?
Yeah, I mean not knowing that the symbol exists outside of Zelda you'll be like "OMG that's the Triforce!" and I think for many of us that is the case.
The only other context I knew for the symbol before this article was that there is a bank which has a symbol that looks a lot like the Triforce. Can't what it was called, though, and I live far away from where I used to see that bank now.
Wouldn’t be the first time Sonic and Zelda had a crossover lol
I knew about the Hōjō clan symbol, I ask this same question to my Japanese friend 25 years ago why Nintendo use it as the Triforce fire emblem for the Zelda series and she said Miyamoto-san's families were probably descendants of the Hōjō and he used it in his Zelda games to pay his respect to them.
The Hojo controlled Japan for 130 years before the Ashikage and their mon was indeed that same symbol, but I'm not aware of any particular association with the Hojo and ninja. Neither the original clan, nor the later Hojo from the Sengoku period, which was famous more for prolific castle building.
They should make a Sonic kart racer with actual Sonic gameplay elements like rail grinding, parkour and the ability to stylishly chain them together for free form shortcuts, surely no kart racer has already beaten them to the punch on this right?
LOL. Like Zelda characters are going to appear in Temu Mario Kart.
Really can't see this happening ever but especially after the reveal trailer had a really out of place dig at "that other Kart series we wont mention by name" about the fact that Super Sonic Knockoff Kart would be multiplatform, of course Sonic is cross platform now, you guys tanked your own platform back at the end of the 90s.
That dig at Mario Kart would only do one thing, get people to compare this gave against either Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Mario Kart World and there is no way in the universe that this future 69% Metacritic game is doing anything to those games other than reminding people just how good the MK games are.
@Greenmanalishi It's labelled VERY clearly with the 'Random' prefix, it gives appropriate context, and it answers a question (in the headline itself, in fact) that people, often younger gamers, are asking online.
Not sure how this could possibly be interpreted as misinformation! A crossover isn't a total impossibility, but it almost certainly isn't some hint at Link appearing in Crossworlds. As the article says. And the headline.
Even though it's most likely unrelated and just a coincidence it's pretty funny to see the "Triforce" next to Espio!
@JohnnyMind Could be a reference to the team of three from Sonic Heroes? Vector, Espio and Charmy together on Team Chaotix
I know Mighty the Armadillo also exists but would think most people who know of these characters probably seen them in Sonic Heroes as that trio.
You guys are just seeing things that aren't there.
It's not about Link.

It's very obviously Platdude in the bottom left corner.

@Stormcloudlive Would be pretty cool if that were the case!
@Greenmanalishi Put the device down for a few minutes, get yourself a cup of your preferred drink and think about if getting this worked up over something incredibly insignificant is really worth the hassle.
You also have the option of viewing a different website if the writers bother you that much. There's plenty out there but I would argue that Nintendo Life is actually one of the better ones for not spreading misinformation and click bait headlines.
@Greenmanalishi Dude, calm down. You're getting worked up over such inconsequential things. If you hate Nintendo Life so much, you should go and write your own articles on another website. Maybe then they'll be up to the standard you believe they should be at.
@SalvorHardin Now I can't unthink that. Good spot!
@Greenmanalishi Are we forgetting that Mario and Sonic have starred in multiple video games together and that Sonic (as well as several other non-Nintendo characters) are in Smash Bros.? Like the article clearly says, this is probably nothing, but to say it's "impossible" is a stretch. People were saying that before Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, right?
@Damo We live in an era where Forza and Gears are on PlayStation, GTA is on Nintendo consoles, Spyro's dad makes Spiderman games, Sony is helping to make a Zelda movie, etc.
Let's not forget that Mario was on an Atari console in the 80s and the Zelda franchise was given out to butcher on the CDi.
Nothing in this world is impossible now. 😂
@Crimson_Ridley My thoughts exactly!
Let’s upgrade that to a “definitely not"
@Greenmanalishi
Legend of Zelda has literally crossed over with Sonic already on the Wii U in Sonic Lost World. It is absolutely not an impossibility.
Person who’s only played Nintendo games playing their first non-Nintendo game: “Getting a lot of “Nintendo” vibes with this one..”
@EarthboundBenjy or that they've both battled in smash for over a decade now
The Mitsuuroko or Three scales is a popular symbol in Japan because of the Hojo. That said, taking out the context of the leaks, would Link really be less likely than SpongeBob, the ninja turtles, or Aang. Also it wouldn't be the first time Link was put in a sonic game. He could be a bonus for Switch and Switch 2 players.
I hope not. Can Sega not crossover with Nintendo for five minutes?
@Stormcloudlive you are so salty 😂 funny considering all of the critics who played it loved it even won an award at summer game fest.
@GinMiguel that was only because of that stupid Wii U deal
