Nintendo's platforms were notably absent from the latest 10-year deal has been done and the Switch 2 is officially in the hands of consumers?
Although there have been no public updates, according to Kotaku's senior reporter Ethan Gach, Nintendo and Microsoft still plan to announce something in the future. It's not exactly the most thrilling development, but when Kotaku reached out to Microsoft about this, it was reassured it's still happening:

"But what about the Switch 2? More than two-years after Microsoft and Nintendo entered into an agreement to bring Call of Duty to Switch, nothing has materialized. Sources close to the matter tell Kotaku that both sides are still working on it."
GameSpot also got in with Activision and was told "both teams are working on it" – with Activision's spokesperson also mentioning how the company remains "committed to getting the franchise on Switch" and details will be shared when they're ready.
Microsoft and Nintendo originally entered a 10-year commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo's platforms back in 2022, with the all-clear on the Activision Blizzard acquisition later on in the same year, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 arriving on multiple platforms last year.
So, if you were wondering, yes – Call of Duty is still coming in some way or form to Nintendo's hardware in the future.
Would you be interested in playing Call of Duty on Nintendo's modern hardware? Let us know in the comments.

I’m surprised people were expecting current gen CoDs on Switch 2. The most I expected were ports of some of the older games or a side game tailored for Switch 2 specifically.
I don’t have much of horse in this race regardless though since I don’t play those games.
I'd be happy with a remastered edition of Black Ops 2 honestly. I enjoyed it on my Wii U and would love it on Switch 2 with all the DLC the Wii U version never received.
I still want to play Nuketown Zombies and Mob of the Dead. Give us Zombies Chronicles while you're at it!
These types of games are not what I buy Nintendo hardware for. Happy for those who want to play shooters like these, but they are not for me. I do love me some boomer shooters, though.
Black Ops 7 is still coming to PS4, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it on Switch 2. Whichever Call of Duty game comes to Switch 2, I expect it to be revealed at a Direct anyway.
I would like to have a new CoD title BUT with local multiplayer without online subscriptions, lengthy single player at 60 fps. Yes, the Wii U title was great!
Anyone else Modern Warfare on the DS? What a time
We’ll probably get an announcement in November for COD 3 HD or World At War: Remastered. Or maybe they will port the DS Modern Warfare games, knowing how cheap Activision can be
And instead of charging customers appropriately for an all-on-cart release, people are going to have to fork over $50 worth of microSD Express storage per game on top of the cost of the game itself.
Activision will need to tread carefully.
@TheExile285 the 10 year deal they signed is specifically about bringing brand new COD games with full feature parity, day and date release with other platforms. It's not about bringing old games to the system.
Im suprised that diablo, cod and other Microsoft games wasent part of the launch lineup.
Cod bo6 should easily run on switch 2, it dosent require as much as people think. I Expect a cod bo6 release within fall-winter, and a decent medium settings with smooth fps 40-60.
I'd be happy with Modern Warfare Remastered, fond memories of the origional
@TheExile285 Why are you surprised though? CoD is not like GTA 6. The engine is now a bit old and the game is still even releasing on Xbox One, PS4.
I want Diablo 4 damn it!
The weird thing is, Call of Duty appeared on the GameCube, Wii, DS and Wii U. Switch, the massively successful console on the market when this deal was signed is the only Nintendo home console to not have CoD since the series began.
I would bet my bottom dollar that it will be this year in either a Nintendo Direct or Partner Showcase. There is no way Nintendo is going to want to be missed out when their new console is out.
lol playing this on a subpar online service like Nintendo Online is a hilarious thought
@Spaceman44 what are you talking about. On Nintendo you can screen watch and see your friends face when you kill then. All at 10fps.
@sixrings Don’t forget the innovating friends code lol
They have to figure out how to make it fit on a single Micro SD Express card.
Black Ops 6 and Forza Horizon 5 are pretty much the only reason I still play my PS5. If they both came to Switch 2 I probably wouldn't use it until Grand Theft Auto VI is released.
@Res462 I'd forgotten about the whole storage issue. It's absolutely ridiculous how large Call of Duty games are. On PS5 I only have the multiplayer portion installed and it's still 179.7 GB. Definitely going to need to upgrade my storage. 😩
S2 will be getting the current game. My thoughts are they have been working on trying to get something in the original switch also. Either way we will see it by the September direct.
It's going to eat up just about all the space on the Switch 2. These games are ridiculously massive when it comes to hard drive space requirements
@Qwertyninty I could see them releasing Black Ops 2 on Switch this year
Kill! Kill! Kill!
Not particularly interested in it myself, but of course I'll be happy for those who are when Call of Duty finally comes back to Nintendo systems (most likely exclusively Switch 2, but we'll see) - would be cool to see some of the older titles eventually come, too!
I'd rather have something actually good, like Unreal Tournament
At this point I'm guessing MS put in some very fine print that reads "10 years of CoD on Nintendo consoles that also have Game on them". Either that or just a Cloud version. 😝
Not that it matters, here in America it doesn't matter what powerful people do or say, no consequences. Even for flat out bold faced lies. I mean what's going to happen if CoD doesn't come to Switch 2, do you think they'll split up MS and Activision? Not gonna happen. Maybe a $1 mil fine, which might be cheaper than getting the game to run on Switch 2. 🤑
But if PS4 is getting it then surely Switch 2 can run it, see Cyberpunk, so maybe Nintendo just doesn't want it, or wants MS to pay them more than MS wants to pay? But hardware should not be a limitation for PS4 games.
I imagine it will come, wouldnt be surprised if black ops 7 es switch 2. But i imagine the next one will come
I'll believe it when I see it. Otherwise I doubt Microsoft is going to port over to Switch. It may not even be a native port.
I mean, don't stress yourselves out over it. If it does, it does, if it doesn't, it doesn't. I doubt the Call of Duty fanboys will wanna jump to a Nintendo platform. For them, it's realism or nothing.
I’m hoping if it does come to Switch 2 it runs very poorly.
I've always wanted to try a call of duty game with mouse and keyboard.
The new joycon mouse could be perfect for aiming with these games.
I would definitely get this for S2. Unless, I guess, it turns out to be terrible. But I doubt that will happen.
Gotta wonder...if we were to make use of 64 GB game cards for something along the lines of Black Ops 7 proper (not factoring Warzone), how many would they need? Doubt two (one for the campaign, one for its own dedicated multiplayer) would be enough given just how hoggy Call of Duty is these days even in comparison to other hoggy games.
Hate to say it, but something super-hoggy like Call of Duty might justify the game key card format for some people; to be fair, for one, we can assume multi-launcher is possible to allow separate s of campaign and multiplayer (and also save a trip to the eShop when it comes to Warzone, that of which we wouldn't anticipate a proper physical in any event), and for two, Microsoft these days have been known to be even scummier when it comes to physical discs on the rival platforms...
Is it switch or just in switch 2 ?
C'mon Microsoft, you still had time not to bring it. A Nintendo console with no Call of Duty was the best thing ever. Besides nobody wants a fake Call of Duty anyways.
@Serpenterror
Wii U got 2 day 1 Call of Duty releases. BLOPS 2 and Ghosts.
Why?
It's the only Nintendo console ever to mass storage.
Wii U officially ed standard PC SSD and HDD out of the box.
You can connect 2 x 4 TB SSD's at the same time to Wii U if you want. 8 TB SSD...
95% of big games revealed at 4 shows last week didn't have a Switch 2 logo.
Because Nintendo refused to add SSD on Switch 2.
They have to downgrade games for a small 64 GB cart instead.
In general, the noticeable lack of Switch 2 announcement during recent summer events reflects how recent the console is and how much devs actually had dev kits not long until recently. My guess is they're working on a COD game for Switch 2, but they won't reveal it right now.
Just, since this is a yearly franchise, please don't bring a late port for the same price just to announce a new entry months after. If this game doesn't come to Switch 2 at launch, then give it a window of at least 1 month and a half to release it or not to release it.
